I was so afraid she’d hate him for this — and I hope she still doesn’t later — but I was glad to see that at least for now, she’s seemed to understand why he had to do it. After all, he’s the one who tried to jump into a closing portal the last time and ended up face-first on the floor — a bit more dangerous if Emma went straight into the water. And of course, then there’s the bit about him being the one to have put her in the wardrobe that sent her to grow up alone — and even after everything, even when they were begging her to let them be parents, she still brought that up, wanting Henry to grow up in a way entirely different from what she did. That still weighs on her, so it still weighs on him, so yeah, Charming’s not going to let her go to be hurt, even if it means she really does end up hating him.

Yes, this. Even if we don’t talk about fake documents there is no way to have legal adoption from a state that doesn’t allow out of state adoptions to a town that doesn’t exist.
Emma is also not Henry’s legal mother since she surrendered her legal rights at his birth.
Legalities are useless to discuss on this show. It’s all about family and love and Emma learning how to parent since she has no experience and Regina learning how to share since it is okay for your child to love more people than just you.
I always find it a bit humorous that the legalities of Henry’s parentage is focused on, when half the town should be locked away for life due to all that pesky murdering going on. XD

I really hope we have some Henry and his step-grandma bonding over books. Or, y’know. Henry not being horribly traumatized. Or Belle having her agency violated left, right, and center.

I’m glad you mentioned Belle by name because “step-grandma” was getting me nowhere. HENRY IS PARTIALLY RELATED TO TOO MANY PEOPLE. The fairy tale world loves inbreeding. XD
